Dear Parents,

Hello and welcome to Troop 106! Thank you for your interest in Scouts BSA.

Troop 106 has proudly served families in Huntington and surrounding communities for over 70 years. Troop 106 is open to boys ages 11-17.

Join us if your child wants to develop life skills, reach their full potential and challenge themselves on the road to Eagle. In addition to learning all that Scouting has to offer, and being civic-minded members of our community, our Troop 106 Scouts have fun! The Scouts have become great friends along the way. Interested 10-17 year olds are encouraged to attend a meeting.

We hold weekly meetings at Signal Hill Elementary School at 7:00 PM. Prospectus Scouts are encouraged to attend a meeting. Please contact us to arrange a visit or for more information. We also offer additional activities throughout the year, and Scouts are encouraged to participate in as many as possible.

We understand that older Scouts may have sports, jobs, schoolwork, and other commitments, so we offer flexibility when needed. Scouts BSA is achievement-based, with Scouts moving up in rank by completing requirements and demonstrating new skills towards rank advancement.

Thanks to dues and fundraising, most activities are free or offered at a reduced cost for Scouts.

ONLINE APPLICATION

⚜️ You will be directed to the Troop 106 Sign Up page on "Be A Scout."

⚜️ You will be able to pay dues online.

⚜️ Your application will be received by Scouting LI and a Scout ID will be registered with Scouting America.

⚜️ Someone from Troop 106 will be in touch by email, invite you to the next event and share the events Calendar

DUES

⚜️ NEW Applications: $225

• New Scouts will pay dues through the BeAScout online application.

⚜️ Returning Scouts: $225

• Returning Scouts may the Troop directly by using Venmo @BSAT106NY (venmo.com/BSAT106NY) or by check payable to "Pack 457".

DUES INCLUDE:

● Fees to Scouts BSA national, LI Council, and Troop 106

● Scouting America Scout ID

● Insurance for all Scout-related activities

● Weekly meetings, events and activities

● Awards and Advancements: Court of Honors, Scoutmaster Conferences, Board of Reviews, plus rank patches, merit badge tokens, and advancement recognition

● Troop Equipment: Maintenance, replacement, or purchase of shared gear, such as tents, stoves, cooking gear, and trailer upkeep.

UNIFORMS

CLASS A FIELD UNIFORM

Official Shirt: Khaki button-down shirt (short or long sleeve).

Bottoms: Official olive-green trousers or shorts.

Neckerchief & Slide: Troop-specific or council neckerchief worn with an official slide.

Belt: Green web belt with a brass BSA buckle.

Socks: Official green scout socks (crew or knee-high).

Insignia and Patches

Unit Identification: Council patch, Troop 106 numerals, and optional patrol patch.

Rank & Awards: Current rank badge and any official temporary or permanent recognitions.

Merit Badge Sash: Worn over the right shoulder for formal events, courts of honor, and boards of review (not typically worn during active outdoor work).

It is expected that Scout Class A Uniforms are worn at all Pack meetings for for public events, with exceptions. New Scouts may attend meetings before purchasing uniforms.

CLASS B UNIFORM

On less formal occasions, Scouts may also wear a Class B uniform, consisting of any Scouting related graphic tee shirt, long sleeve shirt, or sweatshirt.
